hearing will be at three this afternoon here in san francisco and it will determine the immediate fate of the nationwide travel ban. attorneys for washington and minnesota, which challenged the executive order, say the temporary restraining order should remain in place because the president overstepped his authority. the san francisco-based appeals court has a reputation as one of the most liberal in the nation. but experts say no matter what the ruling, the next stop will be the u-s supreme court. because of that order, international students from seven muslim majority countries were stranded abroad, unable to return to the u-s. that includes a young iranian man we met last week who is in his last semester at the academy of art in san francisco. kron four's ella sogomonian captured his return and standing ovation as he walked into class. it's a story you will only see on kron four. these are payam jafari's first steps back in the united states.payam was away for winter break back home in iran

caltrans...haaziq madyun kron4news a u-s supreme court justice visits the bay area. justice ruth bader ginsburg was invited to stanford for its annual "rathbun lecture on a meaningful life." kron four's spencer blake was there for her remarks at stanford memorial church. the line to see and hear a supreme court justice snaked all along the front of the building a good hour before the event began.there had been a ticket lottery that these lucky hundreds of studens won. "going to see a supreme court justice is so cool, just sort of in general. but i think ruth bader ginsburg is definitely a role model of mine."stanford's office of religious life invited ruth bader ginseburg to share her personal reflections on a meaningful life.she talked a lot about the progress she's seen in the country since she

was appointed the supreme court in 1993.it's not outlandish for a girl to want to be a judge like it was when ginsburg was young.but she also said we must acknowledge the still bleak part of the picture."women's earnings here and abroad trail the earnings of men. our qorkplaces to not adequately accommodate the demands of child bearing and child rearing."she shared the good advice her mother in law gave her on her wedding day - in every good marriage, it helps sometimes to be a little deaf.ginsburg says she has used that philosophy in every workplace, including the country's highest court, though that's not to say the justices don't get along."we genuinely respect each other, and even enjoy each other's company. collegiality is key to the success of our mission." the justice figured out a good and devoted work-life balance, though that term wasn't yet coined when she was raising kids while in law school."the office i hold now nearing 24 years is the best and most consuming job a lawyer anywhere could have."so what makes a meaningful life?as ruth bader ginsburg put it simply.it means doing something outside yourself. "and on a more tender note, ginsburg says she has had some luck in life, but none that exceeds the luck that brought her her husband, marty, who passed away in 2010. he supported her through two

for your health. a growing number of studies show the dangers of e-cigarette-use by teenagers. new research says e-cigarette use by teens is on the rise... and scientists claim e-cigarettes can serve as a gateway for future tobacco use. teens using flavored versions like "gummy bear" and "bubble gum" were less likely to see tobacco smoking as dangerous leading them to become smokers. the study also said more than 5-million youth could die early from cigarette smoking--related illness... unless youth smoking rates drop dramatically. with rainy weather across the bay area.. there's common confusion for drivers. many people behind the wheel forget to turn on their lights when their windshield whipers are on. kron four's stanley roberts shows us the rules in today's people behaving badly. i'm driving on highway 101 in san francisco, in front of me a caltrans truck nats: ambiancethe operator of this state owned truck is ignoring state law despite the fact caltrans post the law on
4:50 am
highway message boards which law is that? well when it rains and you have your windshield wipers activated you must turn on your lights nats: ambiancenow i'm going to clear up a few myths related to headlights and wipers, because there are a lot of people who think any light on the car turned on meets state law first off you need your headlights on, not your parking lights, not your running lights, not your blinkers in other words your tail and head lights are required to be on .. in the day as well as nighttime nats: ambiance the lights are not so you can see better, because if it did .these drivers would have notice the keep clear sign painted on the street the lights don't make you stop for red lights, if that were the case this driver wouldn't have ran the left turn arrow and went straight whenever it rains, i get emails from viewers asking me to do segments on drivers who refuse to follow state law. it's much a common sense it's to make you more visible nats: ambiance some cars actually blend in the inclement weather and are hard to see . so when
4:51 am
your lights are on you make it safe for everyone you can be pulled over and ticketed for not turning on your headlights when you activate your windshield wipers .. here is something that might catch your attention, not having your lights on is a moving violation which carrys one point the fine is thirty five dollars but after all the penalties are attached it jumps to 238 dollars .. nats: ambiance all it takes is a stretch of the arm to turn on the light switch or a stoke of the pen to press hard for the ticket book . you choose riding around the bay in the rain looking at all these cars ignoring the law stanley roberts kron 4 news happening now. hip hop artist kanye west has deleted all tweets defending president trump. the platinum recording artist previously said if he had voted, he would have voted for trump. west met the commander in chif at trump tower back in december... tweeting "it's important to
